There’s a myth going around that murals are only for people with actual painting skill. Not true at all!
Most of the ideas on this list use tape, a projector or a simple stencil to fake the hard part. You don’t need an art degree, lol!
This list came from scrolling through way too many home decor pins over a few weekends. Only the ones that looked doable on a everyday weekend made the cut.
Some are big statement walls for a living room. Others are small enough for a hallway or even a fence out back.

Watercolor Floral Wall Mural
Watercolor florals bring instant softness to a plain wall. The blurred edges hide brush mistakes better than almost any other style, which honestly feels like cheating in the best way!
I use a big soft sponge and let it do most of the heavy lifting. My layering trick is pink over pale green, nothing fancier than that.

How dreamy is this rainbow arch? It’s become the backdrop of choice for nurseries and playrooms everywhere.
Painter’s tape gives crisp, clean arcs even if your hand shakes a little. Worth every minute of tape peeling, lol!

Jungle Leaves Nursery Mural
Jungle leaves turn a plain nursery wall into something that feels like a little retreat. Big monstera shapes read as intentional even when they’re a bit uneven.
I did mine with just two shades of green plus a stencil from the craft aisle. Simple, calm and surprisingly forgiving for a first attempt. Who doesn’t love that?
Ombre Sunset Bedroom Wall
This ombre sunset wall is pure drama in the best way! Orange melts into pink then into deep purple. The blending is honestly the fun part.

This is the mural idea I’d pick for a rental since it’s just a single thin line of green. Easy to paint over later if you ever need to. Renters, this one’s for you!

A vintage map mural turns a wall into a talking point instantly. Coffee-stained paper tones and old-fashioned lettering give it that dusty, well-loved look.
I put mine behind a desk and now guests always ask where I found real wallpaper like that. It’s basically wallpaper energy without committing to actual wallpaper, haha!

It takes longer than most on this list since there are more small details. I lost an entire weekend to stripes on fish alone. Worth every extra hour once the last one got its stripe!

A sunflower field turns a plain backyard fence into something you actually want to look at. Tall green stems and bright yellow petals stretch across every plank.
This is one of those fence these backyards actually need more of, since most fences just sit there looking blank all summer.
Exterior paint holds up through rain if you seal it properly. Mine, admittedly, is already peeling, lol!

I recruited the neighborhood kids for mine last summer. They fought over wing colors more than actual siblings do, haha!

Tape off each stripe first since crooked lines are the one thing that ruins this. I finished mine before lunch, coffee in hand the whole time. Not bad for one morning, am I right?

A woodland scene brings quiet, forest energy to an otherwise plain backyard fence. Tall trees, a soft fox and a few birds fill the space without feeling too busy. My own attempt turned into three foxes because I couldn’t stop myself, lol! One fox just felt lonely.

Blue Sky Cloud Fence

Last but definitely not least, we have this tropical bamboo fence mural! Tall green stalks painted close together give an ordinary fence total resort vibes.
I added a few potted palms nearby and now my neighbors ask if we’re running a resort. Every barbecue since has felt a little more like vacation. How great is that?
