This list is for anyone who freezes up the second snow starts falling and a camera is in hand, lol! Beginners, renters, busy people, last minute planners, this one’s for all of you.
You don’t need a fancy camera or a studio backdrop. Most of these work with a phone and whatever snow shows up in your yard.
I scrolled through hundreds of pins gathering these and tossed out anything that needed a professional crew. Anything that needed a mountain lodge got tossed too, lol! What’s left is doable and budget friendly. It actually looks good printed out or posted online.
Some of these are pure snow shots. Others branch into senior pictures, travel, vacation and even a couple of quiet relationship moments, because honestly the same posing tricks work everywhere once you know them.

We’re starting off strong with the snow angel shot taken straight from above. Someone stands on a chair or a porch railing and shoots straight down while you flap your arms.
The wings come out crisp on fresh untouched snow, so try to be the first one out there! Old snow just looks muddy in photos.

Nothing beats hot cocoa by a snowy cabin window, mug in hand and steam rising. I add a flannel blanket and a couple mismatched mugs from the thrift store for charm. Nobody has to fake being cozy for this one.

A snowball frozen mid air makes for one of the funnest action shots on this list. Someone throws, someone else clicks the shutter at exactly the right second. I always rely on burst mode since my timing is never that good! Mine never is, haha!

A frosted window makes a dreamy backdrop for a silhouette portrait. I stand close to the glass with soft light behind me and let the frost blur the edges. This works even in an apartment window, so no cabin required. No shame in that, right?
