Looking for wood slat acoustic panel ideas that go beyond a TV wall? Think glowing shelves, a slatted bedroom backdrop or even a ceiling covered in pale lines.
These rooms give you plenty to work with, whether you like light neutrals or darker colors.
You can keep it simple or go all out. Use these pictures for layout inspiration, then check product specifications for acoustic performance and suitability. A slatted look alone doesn’t tell you either.
Slat Panel Looks Worth Saving
slats between charcoal walls
We’re starting off strong with this slatted TV backdrop. I love the charcoal paint on either side and the little lights inside the black console.
Keep the panel wider than your screen if you want a similar look. Tall plants on either side are a pretty finishing touch.
up the wall and overhead
How gorgeous is this ceiling? The slats continue down the far wall, with black gaps running through both surfaces.
That gray chair and little round table make such a lovely corner.
If you want to try something beyond a feature wall, save this ceiling-to-wall combination.
glowing office shelves
This office may just be one of my favorites here. I love the long shelves with lighting underneath, plus that trailing plant at the top.
The black desk and chair keep the furniture simple. Try a mix of small framed pictures, pale vases and plants on your shelves rather than filling every spot.

a half-height bedroom backdrop
Don’t want to cover your whole bedroom wall? No problem!
This slatted section sits behind the bed and floating bedside units, leaving plenty of plain wall above.
I especially love the line of light along the top. The two small pictures above the headboard are just enough decoration.
staggered panels on black
If you’re looking for a darker desk setup, this one is for you. Separate slatted sections rise above the desktop, with shelves sitting at different heights.
The black wall stays visible between them. Keep that spacing if you’d rather have a few smaller panels than one continuous backdrop.
a pale dining ceiling
I love this pale slatted ceiling above the long dining table. The three little pendant lights are so pretty against it.
You don’t have to bring the slats down the walls to try this look. Here, the white walls and large windows leave the ceiling as the main detail.
half-height hallway slats
If you are looking for something simple, this hallway is a lovely starting point. Pale vertical slats cover the lower walls, with matching trim along the top and bottom.
I’d keep the upper walls plain like these.
slim lights and a lounge chair
I am obsessed with this corner. The narrow glowing lines sit at different heights along the dark slatted wall.
That oversized beige chair and matching ottoman look gorgeous in front.
Try a muted green cushion if you want to bring in a little color without adding another big pattern.
a glowing slatted arch
How cute is this arch? The slats follow its rounded outline, with a dark green background showing between them.
There’s lighting around the edge and beneath the shelf too.
The two white vases and trailing plant are a pretty combination. I’d leave the rest of the shelf clear.
a shared desk with a center stripe
Here’s another office idea, but this one keeps the slats in a narrow strip between two workspaces. I love all the plants on the illuminated shelves.
If you’re planning a shared desk, try this centered panel with shelves on either side. You can leave most of the wall painted.
a slatted fireplace wall
This is such a pretty mix of pale slats and dark gray. The TV sits above a fireplace with a dark veined surround, while light-colored chairs sit on either side.

Save this for the color combination. For your own fireplace wall, have the required clearances and panel suitability checked before planning the surround.
slats along the stairs
Don’t forget the landing! These pale slats continue down beside the staircase, with pendant lights hanging in front at different heights.
I love how the clear railing leaves the wall visible.
a lit-up instrument display
The music fans are going to love this one. Two bass guitars hang against the slatted wall, with bright vertical strips beside them.
The black piano and pale blue chair finish the corner.
If you want to display your own instruments this way, use suitable mounts secured to the wall structure rather than relying on decorative slats.
green paint and an off-center panel
This green and light-brown pairing may just be my favorite bedroom combination here. The slatted section sits to the left rather than directly behind the whole bed.
Try a similar off-center layout if you want to keep some painted wall visible. The clear globe pendants are a lovely detail too.
an open divider behind the sofa
Want the slatted look without covering another wall? This open divider sits behind a gray sofa, with a round mirror visible through the gaps.
It’s a different idea from a backed acoustic panel, so treat it as layout inspiration rather than an acoustic solution. I love the blue cushions beside those pale vertical lines.

a backlit TV and ribbed console
I am obsessed with this TV setup. The amber glow behind the screen looks so pretty against the brown slats.
Even the black console has narrow vertical grooves across its doors.
Keep a little greenery at either end if you want to follow this arrangement. The blue plant pots add a nice touch of color.
a central panel with side shelves
This is another way to frame your TV, but it’s a little different from the one above. The slatted panel has glowing outer edges, with open shelves on the painted walls beside it.
I love the trailing plants on the top shelves. Mix yours with a few upright books and small vases to follow the same idea.
rounded lines in the kitchen
How pretty are these rounded ridges? The golden-brown wall continues around the kitchen corner, with a door outline tucked into the pattern.
This is a rounded, fluted take on the look rather than the widely spaced slats elsewhere. The pink flowering branches are my favorite detail beside it.
entryway hooks and a bench
If you’re looking for an entryway idea, this one is worth saving. A tall slatted section sits behind the coat hooks, with a narrow bench below.
I love the floral portrait on the plain wall beside it. Keep your panel to one side like this if you also want room for a favorite picture.
an oval mirror and slatted vanity wall
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty vanity backdrop. I love the oval mirror between the glowing wall lights!
The vertical slats continue below the white counter behind the baskets.
For a bathroom version, choose a product specifically suited to the intended moisture exposure. The white basin and gold-tone fixtures are a lovely pairing to borrow.
