Looking for cabinet colors with gray countertops that go beyond plain white? Navy, sage green and soft taupe give you plenty to choose from.
These rooms include dark gray counters, pale gray veining and a few different countertop colors worth noting before you pick your favorite.
You can keep things simple or try two cabinet colors together. I especially love the pink cabinets and the deep teal island.
There’s a bathroom vanity in here too if that’s the space you’re planning.
Cabinet color combinations worth saving
white cabinets and dark gray counters
We’re starting off strong with these pretty white cabinets and dark gray countertops. I love the black handles against the white doors.
The white rectangular backsplash tiles carry the same look around the window.
If you want to go a step further, group little plants on a round tray like the one beside the sink.
deep navy and globe pendants
How gorgeous is this navy kitchen? The cabinets, island and range hood all share that deep blue color, with a busy gray-and-white pattern across the countertops.
The clear globe pendants are my favorite part. Try pale stools like these if you want to keep some lighter colors around the island.
sage green and display doors
This sage green kitchen may just be one of my favorites here. I love the tall display doors and the little lights above the dishes.
The pale gray-and-white counters look so pretty beside that muted green.

Keep your displayed dishes mostly white and clear if you want to follow the same look.
gray uppers and black lowers
Don’t want to use the same color on every cabinet? No problem!
Try light gray uppers with black lower cabinets like these. The nearly white counters have faint gray markings, so there’s still plenty of light color between the two.
taupe and brown cabinet fronts
I am obsessed with this two-tone combination. The brown grain-patterned upper cabinets look lovely with the taupe drawers below.
Pale gray counters and a white apron-front sink sit between them.
Try gold-tone pendants and handles if you want those little touches of shine. The matching faucet is worth saving too.
honey-colored cabinets and charcoal
If you’re looking for something that keeps the colors simple, go with honey-colored cabinet fronts and charcoal gray counters. The grain is visible across the doors, with slim dark handles on the drawers.
I’d keep the black faucet and sink in this combination. They look so good beside the gray.
soft greige and gold-tone handles
How pretty is this little kitchen corner? The greige display cabinet holds white dishes and clear glasses, with long gold-tone handles down the middle.
The counter below is very pale, while the island shows light gray veining. Add a small framed print beside your cutting boards if you like that decorated-but-simple look.
smoky brown and silver details
If you like darker cabinets but don’t want black, this smoky brown is worth a look. The gray, cream and beige streaks across the counters give you several colors to work with.
I love the pale blue-gray backsplash here. Try a similar color if you want something a little different from white.
cream uppers and dark green lowers
This is another pretty way to use two cabinet colors. Cream upper doors sit above deep gray-green lowers, with black-and-gray markings across the pale countertop.
The orange tones in the runner are such a nice extra touch. You don’t have to keep every accessory gray just because your counter includes it.
creamy beige and cup pulls
If you love creamy beige cabinets, save this one for the color and the dark cup pulls. The countertop here leans cream and golden brown rather than clearly gray, so it’s an alternative pairing.
For a gray-counter version, I’d test this cabinet shade beside your actual counter before committing. Keep the little pink flowers either way!
muted green and framed art
I love these muted green cabinets with the dark charcoal countertop. The gold-tone handles are lovely, but those framed pictures make this corner feel especially personal.
If you want to try the idea, choose a small picture for an open shelf. You don’t need to fill every wall to borrow this look.
white and charcoal with brown counters
This white-and-charcoal cabinet combination is so cute, especially with the black dome pendants. One difference to note: the countertops shown here are brown, not gray.
Use this picture for the cabinet colors rather than the countertop pairing. You could try the same white uppers and charcoal lowers with a pale gray counter in your own kitchen.
slate blue bathroom vanity
Taking the color ideas into the bathroom, this slate blue vanity is such a pretty option. Its counter is mostly white with faint gray veining, with black handles and a matching black faucet.
I love the pale green towels beside the blue. Try that pairing if you want another color without going too bright.
reddish brown and dark counters
The reddish-brown cabinet fronts are the detail to save here. They’re paired with glossy counters that look almost black, plus white backsplash tiles with dark outlines.
If your countertops are deep charcoal, this is a color direction worth testing. The silver-tone cup pulls give you a lovely alternative to black hardware.
mushroom taupe and swirling gray
Don’t want to go all out with color? This mushroom-taupe kitchen gives you another neutral option.
I love the pale swirling pattern behind the cabinets and across the gray-beige counter.
The brown trays and rounded cream vessels are just enough decoration here. I’d leave the rest of the counter open.
dusty pink and gray veining
I am obsessed with this dusty pink kitchen. It’s such a pretty change from white or gray cabinets, especially with those little gold-tone cup pulls.
The pale countertops and backsplash have bold gray veins running through them. Try a muted pink like this if you want color without choosing a bright shade.
teal island and pale gray cabinets
If you are looking for a colorful island idea, then this one is for you. The deep teal looks gorgeous beneath the pale gray-veined counter, with light gray cabinets around the room.
I love how the blue-green pendants echo the island. The patterned backsplash brings that color onto the back wall too.
light brown and charcoal gray
This is another brown cabinet look, but it’s a little different from the honey-colored kitchen above. The fronts are less golden, with dark gray countertops and a black range hood.
The black lines across the display door are my favorite detail. Keep the handles black too if you want to follow this combination.
pale greige and flat doors
Looking for something simple without decorative cabinet panels? These pale greige flat-front doors are worth saving.
The small silver-tone handles keep the look understated.
The speckled countertop reads brown-gray rather than a plain cool gray. Try cabinet samples beside both your counter and backsplash to find a shade you like with the whole combination.
pale green and deep teal
Last but definitely not least, we have pale green uppers and deep teal lower cabinets. I love the little gold-tone knobs!
The countertop here is green with multicolored flecks, so this is another alternative rather than a gray-counter example.

For your own variation, try these cabinet colors with gray countertops. I’d keep the brown pitcher and a bowl of oranges for those extra touches of color.
