20 Key West Interior Design Ideas With Tropical Color and Coastal Details

Looking for key west interior design ideas with a little personality? Think turquoise pillows, pale palm prints and a pink flamingo or two.

These spaces give you plenty to choose from, with colorful living rooms, simple bedrooms and a few outdoor details worth saving too.

You can keep things understated or go all out with lime green walls. Start with a color you love, then decide whether you want tropical leaves, seaside accents or just a pretty new lamp.

Key West-inspired spaces and details to save

pink turquoise and lime

We’re starting off strong with this super cute white living room. I love the turquoise pillows and that little lime green side table.

The pink throw and round pink pouf make it even more colorful.

Try a few bright accessories around your own white sofa if you want to follow this look without changing every piece.

pale blue hallway

How pretty is this hallway? The pale blue walls and white paneling are lovely together, but those basket-shaped hanging lights are my favorite part.

Hang a sailboat picture above the paneling if you want a similar seaside touch. A patterned lamp gives the console a little color too.

soft blue palm prints

If you are looking for something tropical without lots of bright colors, this one is for you. Oversized pale blue leaves cover the wall behind a white sofa.

I love the white flowers on the coffee table. Keep your accessories just as simple if you want the leafy pattern to be the main decoration.

blue porch ceiling

Taking the inspiration outside, this porch has such a pretty blue ceiling. The exposed beams repeat the color above a blue-gray floor, with a dark hanging lantern in the middle.

A bench, rocking chair and small settee give you a few seating ideas to borrow. I’d keep that open stretch of floor rather than fill it with more furniture.

leaf-shaped fan blades

This ceiling fan may just be one of my favorite details here. The broad leaf-shaped blades look so good above the white seating and brown furniture frames.

The kitchen stays in the same pale and brown colors, with small pendants above the counter. Try muted blue-green pillows if you want that little bit of color on your sofa.

white canopy and stripes

Don’t want to go all out with tropical prints? No problem!

This bedroom keeps things simple with white canopy curtains, striped bedding and brown accents.

I love the narrow hanging light beside the bed. The small arched wall niche underneath is a lovely detail all on its own.

glossy teal kitchen

I am obsessed with this teal kitchen. The glossy rectangles run across the island front and up the tall section behind the faucet.

There’s even more teal beneath the open shelves.

If you want to try a smaller version, start with a teal backsplash rather than covering the island too.

mint walls and leafy corners

The matching mint walls and seat cushions are so pretty in this room. I especially love the tall palm beside the window and the smaller greenery spilling over the coffee-table tray.

Try repeating one pale green shade across your seating and walls if you like this softer take on tropical decorating.

coral bench and blue bedding

How cute is this bedroom pairing? The coral bench picks up the orange-pink pattern in the blue bedspread.

The dark shelving and brown window shades give you something a little different from an all-white room.

Keep a colorful landscape above your shelves if you want another small splash of green.

shell sink and scalloped pattern

If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. That giant shell-shaped basin is gorgeous against the blue fan-patterned wall.

I love the gold-tone faucet and thin mirror frame too. For a smaller nod to this look, you could choose a shell-shaped soap dish instead of changing your sink.

a big pendant and coastal shelves

Don’t want to add bright blue to your dining room? No problem there!

This space sticks to beige, white and brown, with an oversized woven-look pendant above the table.

The shell and coral-shaped ornaments on the shelves are my favorite little details. Leave some space between yours rather than filling every gap.

orange lights and draped curtains

This bedroom takes a more eclectic turn than the pale rooms above. I love how the orange bedding picks up the color of the glowing hanging light and sculptural lamp.

The curtains draped around the bed add another layer of decoration. If you borrow that idea, keep the draping well clear of your light fixtures.

pink flamingos and aqua

OMG, how adorable is that pink flamingo? The aqua sofa and floral pillow are already so cute together, then the flamingo pictures carry the pink onto the walls.

You can either follow the whole theme or try one flamingo ornament on a pale turquoise table. I’d keep the floral pillow either way.

oversized leaves and a sailboat

If you love a table full of interesting details, this one is for you. There are huge green leaves, a model sailboat and a white coral-shaped ornament sitting on stacked books.

The round green glass vessel is so pretty beside the clear vase. Try a shorter leaf arrangement if you want more of your mirror to show.

white porch scrollwork

Here’s another outdoor detail worth saving. I love the decorative white bracket and the repeating cutout shapes along the roof edge.

This is a close-up of porch trim rather than an interior, but it’s lovely inspiration for anyone planning a cottage-style entry.

sunroom art and turquoise dots

This is one of my favorite rooms on the list. I love the little pictures lined up above the doors, plus the gallery of frames beside the chair.

The turquoise dotted ottoman and red seat cushion make the room even cuter. Try mixing a few playful patterns instead of matching every cushion.

lime walls and a gallery

The color lovers are going to love this! Lime green walls surround a gallery of flowers, leaves and other colorful artwork.

Even the chair and lamp shade join in with shades of green.

Start with your favorite botanical print if you want to build a similar gallery. The frames here don’t all match, so yours don’t have to either.

a little shell reading corner

If you’re looking for a smaller decorating idea, go with a rounded chair, a white throw and a shell-shaped pillow like these. That pleated lamp shade is such a pretty extra touch.

A small round table beside the chair gives your books and notebook a place to go.

blue anchors and stripes

This entry goes all out with the nautical details. There are blue anchors above the doorway, loops of thick rope and striped blue-and-white rugs.

I especially love the striped pillow on the white chair. If the whole theme feels like too much for your space, try just that pillow and a round mirror.

a shower surrounded by leaves

Last but definitely not least, we have this leafy outdoor shower. I love the huge leaves arching over the pale walls!

The dark showerhead and round control keep the fixtures simple.

Save this one for outdoor inspiration rather than an indoor bathroom. The planting on both sides of the shower platform is the detail I’d want to borrow.
